Not long after it was announced thatGen VSeason 2 had officially wrapped filming, one of the show’s biggest breakout stars just secured a role in a major franchise. A new report fromDeadlinerevealed thatAsa Germann, known for playing Sam Riordan in the hit Prime Video seriesGen V, has joined the cast ofScream 7in a supporting role. Details about Germann’s character are being kept under wraps, as is the plot, but he joinsScreamveteranNeve Campbell, who appeared in the debutScreamfilm in 1996 before reprising her role as Sidney Prescott in the 2022 sequel. Also tapped for roles inScream 7areCeleste O’ConnorandIsabel May, the former of which has been formed to play Prescott’s daughter.

Screammade its triumphant return to the big screen in 2022 with the sequel starringJenna OrtegaandMelissa Barrera, both of whom will not return forScream 7. Once the news dropped earlier this year that Barrera had been let go from the project, Collider exclusively reported after speaking with her thatshe was happy with where Sam’s arc finished inScream 6, and had no reservations about whether she was making the right decision. Both Ortega and Barrera have had no trouble finding success in other roles beyondScream, with the former making headlines thanks to her performance inWednesday, the Netflix Original series fromTim Burton. As for Barrera, she teamed up withDan Stevensearlier this year forAbigail— the horror comedy streaming on Prime Video that grossed $42 million at the box office on a reported budget of $28 million.

What Is the Highest-Grossing ‘Scream’ Movie?

As is the case with many franchises, the firstScreamwas released in 1996 and is still the highest-grossing installment in the franchise, but not by much. The film earned $173 million at the worldwide box office, less than $1 million ahead of its sequel,Scream 2, which dropped in theaters almost exactly one year later. The lowest-grossingScreammovie came in 2011 withScream 4, which finished its theatrical run as the only installment in the franchise with less than $100 million at the worldwide box office. Themost recentScreamfilmgrossed $169 million worldwide on a $35 million budget.
