Usually, interviews with actors, director, etc. are held at a hotel, but when Storm Reid came to Atlanta to promote her new movieA Wrinkle in Time, we got to do the interview at a very cool location: her old Elementary school. Reid previously attended Chestnut Elementary, and she came back to greet the students, meet up with old teachers, donate some books, and do interviews at the school’s media center.

For those unfamiliar withA Wrinkle in Time, the story follows Meg Murry (Reid), a teenager who goes on an adventure with her adopted brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) and friend Calvin (Levi Miller) to find her missing scientist father (Chris Pine). The film also starsOprah Winfrey,Reese Witherspoon,Mindy Kaling,Gugu Mbatha-Raw, andZach Galifianakis.

During my interview with Storm Reid, we talked about what it was like being back at her old elementary school, how she got involved withA Wrinkle in Time, working on a blockbuster feature with directorAva DuVernay, the advice she has for aspiring young actors, and much more.

Here’s the official synopsis forA Wrinkle in Time:

From visionary director Ava DuVernay comes Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless  classic  that  takes  audiences  across  dimensions  of  time  and  space,  examining  the  nature  of  darkness  versus  light,  good  versus  evil  and,  ultimately,  the  triumph  of  love.  Through  one  girl’s  transformative journey  led  by  three  celestial  guides,  we  discover  that  strength  comes  from  embracing  one’s  individuality  and  that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.
