In case youmissed the memo, today is Alien Day, a celebration of all thingsAlien. The day has seen trivia, posters,Reeboks, and more as fans clamor for anything and everything tied intoRidley Scott’shorror/sci-fi franchise, but perhaps the coolest thing to emerge is a new maquette from Sideshow Collectibles. The Xenomorphs have long been a fan-favorite creature thanks toH.R. Giger’sgrotesquely beautiful designs and their frightening performances throughout theAlienfilms, but the Alien Queen rose up to tower above them all inJames Cameron’s1986 filmAliens.
Sideshow Collectibles now looks to dethrone the queen with a new Alien King creation, also known as Internecivus Raptus Rex. While aKing Alien, or Rogue Alien toyalready exists in the Kenner line, its design inspired by the “Aliens: Rogue” comics, this version is much more suited to collectors of the highest quality statues and figures. The scale of its design, if not its actual size, is also impressive as relatively smaller Xenomorphs scramble along beneath the Alien King’s feet. (It’s good to be the king.) What remains to be seen is whether or not this critter will rear his gigantic form in Scott’sAlien: Covenant, due out July 25, 2025.
