And just like that, it’s over.HBO Max’sAnd Just Like That…, the sequel series toSex and the City, will officially end with its current third season. According to showrunnerMichael Patrick King, the decision was made during the writing process for the finale — which will now be a two-part episode, airing later this year. The season’s episode count has also been extended from 10 to12to accommodate the farewell.
“And just like that…the ongoing storytelling of theSex and the Cityuniverse is coming to an end,” King said in a statement Friday morning. “While I was writing the last episode ofAnd Just Like That…Season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.”

King added that he made the decision in collaboration withSarah Jessica Parker, HBO & Max Content ChairmanCasey Bloys, and Head of Max Original ProgrammingSarah Aubrey. “SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season,” King said. “It’s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.”
Although, let’s be honest, this would never have happened had they managed to getKim Cattrallback, since it’s always felt like something from the original was missing without its breakout character.
