After opening with$42 million at the domestic box office,Snow Whitedropped 66% during its second weekend in theaters on its way to grossing $14.2 million. The film has grossed $66 million domestically and $76 million internationally for aworldwide total of $143 million, still well below its reported budget of $209 million.The Chosendebuted its first two episodes of Season 5,The Last Supper Part 1, in theaters this weekend, and itgrossed $11.4 millionto take the third spot at the box office behindSnow White. The episodes also played in only 2,235 theaters to give it a per-theater gross of over $5,100, more than any movie in the top five.

The final two spots at the box office this weekend also belonged to two new arrivals, meaningSnow Whiteis the only movie in the top five that didn’t make its debut this weekend.The Woman in the Yard, the horror film directed byJaume Collet-Serra(Carry-On), grossed $9.4 million this weekendto finish in the #4 spot. The film has yet to debut in international territories, but with a modest budget of only $12 million, it’s well on its way to breaking even. The final spot in the top five at the box office this weekend went toDeath of a Unicorn, the monster horror film from A24 led byPaul RuddandJenna Ortega.Opening with $5.7 million,Death of a Unicorngave itself a $1.7 million cushion over the sixth-place competitor, the re-release ofPrincess Mononoke, which grossed $4 millionthis weekend.
Drops Across the Board Spell Trouble for ‘Novocaine,’ ‘Mickey 17,’ and ‘The Alto Knights’
There were some frightening drops outside the top five at the box office this weekend.Novocaine, the action thriller starringJack Quaid, fell 61% during its third weekend in theaters on its way to grossing only $1.4 million.Mickey 17also fell nearly 50% during its fourth weekend in theaters, but a $1.4 million push was enough to help its global total reach$121 million, surpassing its reported budget. After an extremely underwhelming debut that saw the film gross only $3.1 million,Robert De Niro’sThe Alto Knightsdropped 65% during its second weekend in theaters, grossing $1.1 million but still leaving itsworldwide total under $9 millionat the time of writing.The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Moviepassed $10 million at the box office this weekend, whileCaptain America: Brave New Worldalso passed $405 million globally this weekend.
The biggest movie coming to theaters this weekend isA Minecraft Movie, the upcoming video game adaptation led byJason MomoaandJack Black.
