Romance storiesare so common thatwe’ve seen pretty much every kindat this point — including a woman in love with a sea monster inThe Shape of Water, two ogres inShrek, and a femme fatale and a crazy rabbit inWho Framed Roger Rabbit, just to name a few. Now, the anime world is about to add another couple to this roster, and it might be one of the strangest of all. This week,Crunchyrollreleased the first trailer forThe Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife, which is pretty much about what the title describes. The new series is slated to premiere in 2026.

In the story of the newanime series, an entity that is invisible meets and falls in love with a young woman. She is blind, so his being invisible is pretty much irrelevant to her. The duo engages in apassionate relationship, and, as the title suggests, they prepare to go all the way to the altar. The anime has someslice-of-life elements, even though it couldn’t be further from real life. However, the trailer suggests that the series will underscore that love is beyond someone’s appearance and focus onthe couple’s strong relationship.

The synopsis ofThe Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wifealso reveals a bit of atwist to the story. Akira Tounome (the invisible guy) and Shizuka Yakou (the blind girl)are accomplished detectives, so their love story will have some mystery and investigations serving as background. Will theydelve into hard cases while confessing their love for each other? The trailer unveiled by Crunchyroll certainly seems to suggest so.
