The wait forDanDaDanSeason 2 just got a little bit easier. GKIDS and Shout! Studio announced today that Season 1 of themassively popular anime serieswill get an extra-specialBlu-rayrelease soon. The artwork of the Blu-ray release evokes every element from the show: comedy,sci-fi, supernatural and the tiny kitten mascot who is actually the spirit of an old woman along with protagonists Okarun (Natsuki Hanaein the original andA.J. Becklesin the English dub) and Momo Ayase (Shion WakayamaandAbby Trott). The series will hit shelves on June 10.
The collector’s edition of theDanDaDanBlu-ray will come in a box with a 32-page booklet, as well as art cards that champion theanime’s distinct visual styleand a die-cut sticker. As fans of the manga know, the art fromDanDaDanstands out both inanimated formand in stills, and it’s one of the reasons why the franchise became so popular. The show was also clever to mix paranormal and sci-fi storylines, which brings itshorrorandaction sequencesto a whole new level.

The style ofDanDaDandidn’t happen by chance, as producerHiroshi Komeirevealed last year. During aninterview with Collider, the producer called the original manga created byYukinobu Tatsua “chaotic charm” and commented that he wants “viewers to notice how the unique aspects of animation—such as movement, direction, sound, color, and pacing—not only recreate the sense of satisfaction from reading the original but also bring new layers of charm to the story.” Komei also revealed that the creator reviewed every change that was made frommanga to animeand was even present in recording sessions to collaborate with dialog ideas.
When Does Season 2 Of ‘DanDaDan’ Premiere?
Fans were ecstatic whenSeason 2 ofDanDaDanwas announced immediately afterSeason 1 wrapped, but at the same time they knew they’d have to wait a bit. The new episodes of the series are slated tostart rolling out this summer, more specifically in July. However,animation studio Science SARUis yet to reveal which day the series will debut. With just three months until then, chances are that a trailer is coming soon, and fans just need to keep their eyes peeled for it.
