Although we might be preparing to say goodbye to her in the fifth and final season ofThe Boys, there’s another place whereErin Moriarty’s Annie January, aka Starlight, will be popping up before the grand finale — Season 2 ofGen V. Today, during the production’s presentation at San Diego Comic Con, it was revealed through the trailer that Moriarty’s character will play a superb role in helping Marie (Jaz Sinclair) and her friends get a one-up on Godolkin University. Despite other members ofThe Boysfamily, likeChace Crawford’s The Deep andAntony Starr’s Homelander, hopping in during the first season, this will be Starlight’s debut appearance on the popular offshoot.
When we last left off with Starlight, she was using her powers of flight to soar out of harm’s way after being attacked by a slew of Vought cronies alongside Hughie (Jack Quaid). Although they were able to kidnap Hughie (and numerous other members of her vigilante team), Starlight was able to make an escape, with theGen Vtrailer giving us an idea of what she’s been up to since. The teaser sees her saving Marie and then instructing her to go back to Godolkin where she and her friends can plan a coup of sorts. Where things will go from there is anyone’s guess, but it looks likeEric Kripkeis going to do his best to bridge the gap betweenThe Boys’fourth and fifth seasons with whatever goes down onGen V.

As for what else we learned aboutGen Vduring today’s presentation, we know that, along with Moriarty, Crawford will also reprise his role as The Deep at one point or another. We also caught a glimpse of Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) crossing paths with Polarity (Sean Patrick Thomas), but we’ll need to wait until September to see how that plays out. Meanwhile, an earlier teaser foreshadowed Firecracker’s (Valorie Curry) crossover intoThe Boysoffshoot, and we’re certain that these folks are just the tip of the iceberg.
When Will ‘The Boys’ Return?
Fans should savor Starlight’s appearance inGen V, as we don’t yet have a set date for the Season 5 arrival ofThe Boys. Filming wrapped earlier this month and anyone followingKripke’s social media platformswill know that the stage has already been cleared of anything that points to what it once was. Meanwhile, members of the cast —Moriarty included— have been issuing their own goodbye messages to the project that has been their home for over five years.
Season 2 ofGen Vexplodes onto Prime Video on September 17.
