Turturro has been talking up aBig Lebowskispin-off forquite some time, andGoing Placesis now essentiallya remake of the 1974 French filmLes Valseusescentering on Jesus. Turturro, who previously wrote and directedFading Gigolostarring himself andWoody Allen, also penned the script and directs the film.
The Coen brothers, the masterminds behindThe Big Lebowski, have publicly expressed their disinterest in making a spin-off, and they are seemingly uninvolved with this next endeavor. However, original starJeff Bridgesgave hisblessing, while Turturro had remarked toTHRthat he’s been bowling and getting better.

Going Placesdoesn’t currently have distribution, but the Hollywood model around cinematic remakes and spin-offs makes this seem like prime studio bait. Executives are always looking for something to tie their properties to in order to ignite that nostalgia factor.
