The film marks a return to the big screen for Duff, who’s been keeping busy on TVLand’s delightful comedy seriesYoungersocial media postin recent years, and hasn’t led a live-action film for the better part of a decade. “Had the incredible opportunity of playing Sharon Tate the past two weeks in an independent movie,” Duff said in asocial media post. “She was an amazing woman and it was a true honor.”

Directed byDaniel Farrands, the film reimagines the events leading up to the 1969 murder by the members of the Manson Family from Tate’s perspective. According toDeadline, the film is inspired by “an actual quote from Tate, from an interview published a year before her death, wherein she reveals having dreams about ghosts haunting her house and foreseeing her own death at the hands of a satanic cult.” The Haunting of Sharon Tate also starsJonathan Bennett(Mean Girls)andLydia Hearst(Z Nation).
