The premiere ofPeacemakerSeason 2,John Cena’s hit DCU series, is less than three months away, and we cannot wait to get back to it. SinceJames Gunn’s DCU launched, a number of projects have seen characters crossing over. WhenPeacemakerSeason 2 arrives, the series will welcome a number of characters from the franchise. Part of the upcoming project, as revealed ina recently released trailerfor Season 2, areNathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner,Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl, andSean Gunn’s Maxwell Lord. Looking ahead to the new season, more details about Guy Gardner’s role have been released.
Speaking during a conversation with TV Line, Fillion reveals that the relationship between Gardner and Peacemaker is not great, and the pair do not get along well. That much seems quite clear from the pair’s dynamic in the trailer as Guy mocked and laughed while Peacemaker auditioned to be part ofMaxwell Lord’s Justice Gang. Fillion’s comments read:
“Yeah, it’s clear from their relationship that the two of them do not get along. Not a fan of each other. I wouldn’t call them both A-listers by any means, but I think they both consider themselves — maybe in their hearts — they should be A-listers. I think they have a lot to prove. I think they’ve got chips on their shoulders. And I think it’s just a powder keg when they get together.”
It’ll be interesting to see just how much of Guy Gardner and Peacemaker’s dynamic we see when the show returns. While in the trailer the pair’s interaction is limited to just one scene, Fillion’s comments suggest that their interactions will be more extensive than that. It makes sense to believeThe Rookiestar’s comments, as it is hard to establish “a powder keg” rivalry in one scene alone.
James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Is Bringing Some Heavy Hitters to the Fore
Gunn wrote the three first DCU Chapter One releases and the filmmaker looks poised to craft a brilliant franchise going forward. Fillion’s Guy Gardner won’t only appear inPeacemakerSeason 2, as the Green Lantern is expected inGunn’s upcomingSupermanfilm, which arrives in July. The highly anticipated film will be led byDavid Corenswetas Superman andNicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. One of the other superheroes joining the action is Metamorpho, the Element Man (Anthony Carrigan), who has been glimpsed in previously released promotional materials. The actorpreviously teasedwhat to expect from his character, saying, “It’s incredible. I mean, just to know they’re getting little glimpses, I love that.It’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s so much more that I get to do in this movie, and it’s such fun stuff. Just to tease it out little by little is my favorite.”
