Unfortunately, for those of us who share passwords to streaming platforms, the companies who house them have been getting a bit too smart about it. Netflixstarted to crack down on password sharing,Disney+ followed shortly after, and now Max is taking their lead and running with it. The streaming platform that has some of the biggest shows on television is making it so you can’t let you kid in another state use your account to watchThe Last of Us.OrThe Pitt. That is if you don’t want to spend the extra bit of money to allow others to use your account.
Max is nowallowing an “extra member” to be added to your account. The Extra Member Add-On will cost an additional $7.99 a month and allows the primary account holder to add people to their account. For comparison, a basic plan with ads is $9.99 a month, that lands you at $99.99 a year if you pay in one amount. The next available option is the “standard” payment plan which is $16.99 a month or $169.99 a year. Then, the “premium” option, which allows you toplay Max from 4 devices, is $20.99 a month or $209.99 a year.

So if your family is paying for the “premium” plan, and you are adding another $7.99 a month, it might be worth the Extra Member Add-On. Otherwise, the basic with ads plan is not that different from the add-on service. It just depends onwhat you’re willing to spendfor Max alone. Which then brings us to the fact that all of the streaming services are joining together to, essentially, make their own cable network when you may justdo “bundle” plansfor a lot of the bigger names out there.
You Too Can Make Your Own Sort of Cable
Streaming platforms likeDisney+, Max, and Hulu can all be bundled together. For $29.99 a month, you can have Max, Disney+, and Hulu without ads. The version with ads is $16.99 a month. So there are options to make your streaming needs cheaper than if you just did Max on your own, but it is still a pretty penny to have some of the bigger names in streaming.
If you have Max now, you may watchthe latest season ofThe Last Of Us.
