Balfe’s score for Fallout had more than a few hat-tips to his mentor Zimmer’s work onChristopher Nolan’s films. Zimmer, by the way, scored the second film in the franchise, which was directed byJohn Woo. The first film, directed byBrian De Palma, was scored byDanny Elfman.Mission: Impossible IIIdirectorJ.J. Dead Reckoning Part Oneis directed byChristopher McQuarrie, who also directed the fifth and sixth films, and will return for the eighth as well. Their partnership on the Mission: Impossible series has produced the biggest hits of their respective careers. By all accounts, the seventh film (which only recently got a title) will raise the bar for a franchise that is already somewhat synonymous with large-scale stunt sequences.
