A few years ago, famous fashion iconTom Fordtook a chance and directed his first film, though it wasn’t the biggest dare considering the fact that the film was led by the likes ofColin FirthandJulianne Moore.A Single Manwas a pretty strong debut, regardless, and it even wrangled up a handful of big awards nominations, including an Oscar nomination for Firth. Even if the entire film felt like a really well-made commercial for a sprawling fashion house to me, there were more than enough personal notes to make me overlook the fact that the aesthetic seemed just a bit too pristine, even for a film about perfected veneers.

So, naturally, the next question: What’s next? We got our answer last year when Ford announced he would be adaptingAustin Wright’s novelTony and Susaninto a film now calledNocturnal Animals, after a fictional tome at the center of the novel’s story. Again, Ford has assembled a tremendous cast to bring his script to life, includingJake Gyllenhaal,Amy Adams,Armie Hammer,Isla Fisher,Michael Shannon,Aaron Taylor-Johnson, andLaura Linney. And now we have not one but three clear shots from Ford’s dark tale, which focuses on an art gallery owner (Adams) who discovers the titular manuscript written by her ex-husband (Hammer) about a father (Gyllenhaal) who suffers a horrific, tragic accident while on the road with his family. The film will flip back and forth between Adams' character’s life, and the story that is going on within the novel.
