The Konami survival horror game series,Silent Hill, has earned its fair share of fans and accolades over the years. The newest adaptation,Return to Silent Hill, is headed to the big screen, as Cineverse has announced the acquisition of U.S. rights for the newest chapter in the film franchise, per Variety. The upcoming installment, based yet again on Konami’s horror video game series, will have a wide theatrical release in America at a date to be announced. StarringJeremy IrvineandHannah Emily Anderson,Return to Silent Hillisdirected by Christophe Gans, who is also credited with directing the firstSilent Hillmovie in 2006.

The upcoming film is promised to be “a faithful adaptation of the video game ‘Silent Hill 2,'” which will feature the return ofthe famed monster, Pyramid Head.Return to Silent Hillfollows “James (Irvine), a man broken after his relationship with the love of his life, Mary (Anderson), ends. When a mysterious letter from her calls him back to Silent Hill, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil. While James desperately searches for Mary, he encounters terrifying creatures and begins to unravel the mystery of what happened to the town. But as he descends deeper into the darkness, the secrets he uncovers lead to a horrifying truth, and James finds himself struggling to hold on long enough to save his one true love.”

The script forReturn to Silent Hillis co-written by Gans,Sandra Vo-AnhandWilliam Josef Schneider, and adapts the second and most popular game in the video game series,Silent Hill 2. “I am delighted to partner with Cineverse, which has shown a genuine understanding of fanship. ‘Return to Silent Hill’ is an adaptation created out of deep respect for a true masterpiece of a game, Konami’s iconic ‘Silent Hill 2.’ I hope fans will enjoy and be fulfilled with the experience this new film has to offer,” Gans said in a statement.

Red Pyramid is Coming to ‘Return to Silent Hill’

The film was produced byVictor Hadidaof Davis Films,Molly Hassellof Hassell Free Production andDavid Wulf. Besides Irvine and Anderson, the film will also starRobert Strangeas Red Pyramid. With credits as a creature performer in Prime Video’sRings of PowerandThe Wheel of Time, the actor is set for his new role.In an interview, Strange teased his character in the upcoming horror film, saying, “[Fans] can expect the Silent Hill that they know and love, but with some really remarkable, jaw-dropping, creative new takes, [and] new angles on it to bring it into 2025–to bring it into the now." Adding, “It’ll be familiar and exciting in that sense. But there are some–particularly to my character, I think, who I know best–some cool tweaks and new fresh takes on things that I think people will find pretty tasty.”
