Disney has released a newRogue One: A Star Wars StoryTV spot. For those unfamiliar withRogue One, the story takes place before the events ofA New Hopeand centers on a group of rebels who are sent to retrieve the plans for the Death Star. They are led by Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) whose father (Mads Mikkelsen) was forced by the Empire to build the destructive space station.

This TV spot includes some brief snippets of new footage, and it will be interesting to see how much of the film Disney is willing to show before it’s released. I’m also curious if they’ll have the same strategy as last year when they had a press junket forThe Force Awakenswithout showing the movie to the journalists in attendance. At the time, we assumed that this decision was part of J.J. Abrams’ desire to keep everything shrouded in secrecy (I guess he didn’t want people to know he had basically remadeA New Hope), but I was hoping Disney would take a different tack forRogue Onesince you can have a richer discussion with the filmmakers and cast when the interviewer has actually seen the movie.
