With directorDaniel Espinosa’sLifeopening in theaters this weekend, a few days ago I sat down withRyan ReynoldsandJake Gyllenhaalfor a pretty crazy interview. Prior to walking in the room, I’d heard from other reporters that Reynolds and Gyllenhaal were in a great mood and having a lot of fun answering questions together, but you’d be lucky to get one straight answer. I thought everyone was exaggerating. They weren’t. As you can see in the player above, I tried to get them to answer questions about the movie, but that quickly goes off the rails. Saying that, I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed as hard during an interview, and it’s pretty clear the two of them are close friends. Finally, something to know is every time I see Gyllenhaal I joke around that all I want to talk about isDavid Fincher’sZodiac. Not only because Gyllenhaal is fantastic in the film, it’s because I think it’s a brilliant movie on every level. However, when I brought it up at the beginning of the interview forLife…let’s just say it led to a fun exchange.
