If you’ve been anxiously awaiting a return to the Upside Down, good news. Netflix has already got the gears in motion forStranger ThingsSeason 2. Series creatorsMattandRoss Dufferare hard at work on the follow-up to their supernatural series that became the surprise hit of the summer, and nowTHRreports that they’ve expanded their ensemble cast with two series newcomers –Sadie Sink(American Odyssey) andDacre Montgomery(Power Rangers).

Sink will play Max, a tough and confident girl whose appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era. She has a complicated history and is generally suspicious of those around her.
Montgomery will play Billy, Max’s hyper-confident and edgy older step-brother. He steals girlfriends away from their boyfriends, is great at drinking games and drives a black Camaro. But lurking under his apparent charisma, is a violent and unpredictable nature.
That still leaves the previously announced character Roman, an adult character with a tortured past on a mission of revenge who the Duffers are reportedly casting race and gender blind. Along with the announcedSeason 2 episodes titles, these character descriptions remain the most concrete details we’ve got on the highly-anticipated follow-up season.
As for the new castmembers, this is a huge get for any up-and-coming actor.Stranger Thingshas become a cultural phenomenon, reaching beyond the internet nerddom echo chamber into the mainstream; popping up onSaturday Night Live,Steven Colbert’sThe Late Show, and even a performance at the Emmys. Montgomery in particular is poised to have a major breakout year, with a leading role in thePower Rangersreboot and an a supporting turn in the buzzy horror filmSafe Neighborhood. As for Sink, she kicked off her acting career in the Broadway revival ofAnnieand has since worked steadily in TV in film, but a key role inStranger Thingscould make her a household name.
