‘Superman’ Returns to the Big Screen

There’s a lot to get excited about when it comes to the newSupermanfilm. Besides being a fresh start for DC, the story will feature a ton of popular heroes from across the comic universe. This includesMister Terrific (Edi Gathegi),Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced),Supergirl (Milly Alcock), Guy GardnerGreen Lantern (Nathan Fillion), andRick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo). The villains will includeNicholas Hoult’s Lex LuthorandMaria Gabriela de Faría’s Engineer. As for the humans rounding out Superman’s Daily Planet double life,Rachel Brosnahanwill be reporting as Lois Lane,Skyler Gisondowill be taking pictures as Jimmy Olsen, andMikaela Hooverwill be playing Cat Grant.

AfterSupermanflies into theaters, the floodgates for DC will be open with films likeSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,Clayface,Teen Titans, andThe Brave and the Bold. The latter is a Batman-centric film where we’ll see a seasoned Dark Knight training his son Damien Wayne to be the next Robin. The film hasn’t been cast yet and there’s no word on whom the villain/villains are. Killer Croc has only been seen on the big screen once, in 2016’sSuicide Squad, so who knows when or if this tragic character will be in the DCU. The upcomingClayfacefilm gives credence to some of Batman’s lesser-known rogue gallery members being featured. Thebody horror sub-genreconnected to both Killer Croc and Clayface is also something worth noting. Finally, as forKing Shark, he has already made a DCU appearance at the very end ofCreature CommandosSeason 1. He looks to at least play a major role in the hard-R animated series’ second season.
