Gather around, science fiction fans, one of your favorite network shows is officially in production for Season 3. We’re talking, of course, aboutThe Ark, the SyFy show that has been an audience favorite since its premiere on the network in 2023. Despite receiving mixed reception from critics,The Arkhas done enough to secure the interest of many and ultimately justify itsreturn for a third season. Given the cliffhanger Season 2 ending, audiences are anticipating what could be next for Ark One and its crew, and they will be finding out soon enough as production is now in full swing for a 2026 premiere.
The latest update comes fromSyFy’s official X handle, where a video featuring two of its stars confirms that filming for Season 3 is underway. The clip seesReece Ritchie, who plays Lt. Spencer Lane, andChristie Burke, who plays Captain Sharon Garnet, recording themselves as they take the fans on a mini-tour of the set. “Okay everybody, we have some exceptionally exciting news,” Ritchie says at the start of the clip, with Lane tagging along behind him. “All the way from space…today is the first day on set, shooting season three of a show called, The Ark!” As the duo continue to walk through the set showing glimpses of the crew, he further adds; “We’re going to take you all the way on set with us. And we’re going to do a little turnaround to show you guys we’re back on the bridge!”

For the uninitiated,The Arkfollows the crew aboard Ark One, who are tasked with ensuring the survival of the human species even as Earth faces an existential crisis. The series is set a hundred years in the future and sees the crew setting out to search for a habitable colony where humans can settle. The mission is dangerous, with the stakes ever mounting, even when the crew makes some significant progress. The show features fairly unfamiliar names in the industry; however, the cast performances have been one of its highest points, with the dynamics among the crew members helping to progress the story.
What to Expect From ‘The Ark’ Season 3
The Season 2 finale perfectly set up the show for an intriguing continuation after the crew finally stumbled upon a habitable planet. However, new threats loom as the crew split up to help guide other lost ships to the safe haven. ShowrunnerJonathan Glassner, previouslyteased what this newly-found refuge could look like, and if it would feature the presence of higher lives. “I’ll tell you, we felt like, frankly, because of production reasons, we can’t afford to do a completely alien planet like we did in Episode 6 and spend any time there. 6 is the episode where we rescued the clones. So because of that, it’s an earth-like planet. “It’s got water, it’s got lots of vegetation. The odds of there not being some kind of life on there are very slim, so we’re just going to lean into that. Whether that life is the creatures that made that plague and are still alive, who knows? We’ll find out.”
Alongside Ritchie and Burke, The Ark also starsJelena Stupljaninas Evelyn Maddox,Richard Fleeshmanas LT. James Brice,Stacey Readas Alicia Nevins,Diana Bermudezas Kimi Joma,Tiana Upchevaas Eva Markovic,Jadran Malkovichas Dr. Marsh, andRyan Adamsas Angus Medford.
The ArkSeason 3 is slated to premiere in 2026, but a specific release date is yet to be revealed. Past episodes are available to stream on Peacock. Stay tuned for future updates.
