Things are finally slowing down at the box office forThe Accountant 2, which premiered over the weekend of April 25. After nearly a month in theaters, the action sequel starringBen AffleckandJon Bernthalhas grossed $90.2 million at the global box office, with $59 million coming from domestic markets and $31.1 million from international markets. The $59 million thatThe Accountant 2has collected in the U.S. is just enough to push it past the total domestic gross ofJoker: Folie à Deux, the colossal 2024 bomb that grossed only $58 million domestically.Joker 2also added $149 million internationally for aworldwide total of $207 million, less than half of what it needed to reach its break-even point at the box office.Joker 2also earned a “rotten” 31% score from both critics and audiences onRotten Tomatoes.
The Accountant 2kicked off its run with a solid $24.5 million debut, but that was only enough to give it the third place spot, falling behindSinnersandRevenge of the Sith, which returned to theaters to celebrate its 25th anniversary.The Accountant 2then experienced quite a slide of 61% on its way to grossing $9.4 million during its second weekend in theaters, falling to #4 behindThunderbolts*,Sinners, and evenA Minecraft Movie, which surged to $13.7 million during its fifth weekend in theaters at the time. Over its third weekend in theaters,The Accountant 2clung to the #4 spot, falling with a $6.7 million performance, but the order above it didn’t change despite the new release ofClown in a Cornfield,Shadow Force, andFight or Flight.

How Much Did ‘The Accountant 2’ Cost To Make?
The Accountant 2boasts a reported production budget of around $80 million, meaning the film will need to collect $160 million or more to break even at the box office. With a current total of $90 million and things slipping fast, it’s unlikelyThe Accountant 2will get to where it needs to become a profit for Amazon MGM. The firstAccountant, which also starsAnna Kendrick, grossed $152 million at the box office on a more modest budget of $40 million, with $86 million coming from domestic markets and $66 million from international earnings.
