One of the worst-kept secrets in Hollywood has finally been revealed, and the wait is over —Landmanis officially returning forSeason 2. Paramount+ has confirmed that the record-breakingTaylor Sheridandrama, starringBilly Bob Thornton, has been renewed following its dominant debut season on the streaming platform while consolidating its place alongside the likes ofTulsa King, Lioness,and1923as one of their crown jewels.
Created by Sheridan andChristian Wallace,Landmanis set in the booming oil towns of West Texas, following the high-stakes world of roughnecks and billionaires reshaping the global economy. Inspired by the 11-part podcastBoomtown, the series blends corporate intrigue, family drama, and Sheridan’s signature neo-Western storytelling. Thornton leads an all-star cast that includesDemi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland,Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan,andColm Feore.

What Happened in the ‘Landman’ Season 1 Finale?
The final episode of Season 1 was full of drama that is set to havemassive implications for the show going forward, but probably none more than the death ofJon Hamm’s oil tycoon, Monty Miller. Monty passed away after a heart attack and a failed bypass surgery, and now, with the cast announcement leaving out Hamm, we know for sure that Monty won’t be back, even if Hamm himself thought there was ambiguity,as he explained to THR.
“There’s a delightful ambiguity to a lot of it and there’s also a metaphoric resonance to it. The writing works on several levels. Part of what I really like about the relationship between Billy Bob’s character and my own is that we both started in kind of the same place, and those two roads pretty seriously diverged.”
Hamm acknowledged that Monty’s death leaves Tommy with a heavy burden. “That’s going to be Billy Bob’s thing [ahead] — heavy is the head that wears the crown, so to speak. Careful what you wish for. I think his journey through the rest of his life is: careful what you wish for.”
What Is ‘Landman’ About?
Season 1 followed Thornton’s Tommy Norris, the man “on the ground” for Miller’s (Hamm) oil company. Tommy’s life is thrown upside-down when hisextremelypromiscuous 17-year-old daughter Ainsley (Randolph) rocks up to town, swiftly followed by his ex-wife Angela (Larter).The serious stakes of Tommy’s jobare thrown into sharp contrast withAinsley and Angela’s antics, including getting drunk at the country club and taking a group of senior citizens to a strip club. Meanwhile, his son, Cooper (Lofland) starts out as a roustabout for the oil company before a tragic accident on his first day. He soon falls for the widow of one of his colleagues (Chávez) and realizes he wants to be his own man, instead.
What Can We Expect From ‘Landman’ Season 2?
After the arrival of Andy Garcia in the season 1 finale, we know that Tommy will have a new challenge ahead. Will he have to work with Galino or will this present a new threat to Tommy? Tommy also has the issue of taking on added responsibilities in the wake of Monty’s untimely death, and he’ll have Cami breathing down his neck to ensure that he doesn’t mess up Monty’s legacy. Meanwhile, Ainsley and Angela will have to figure out their place in Tommy’s new life but something tells us they aren’t going to struggle to find trouble to get into. Whatever goes down, it won’t be dull.
