One of the most popular medical dramas in recent years, the show was made so thanks in no small part to the unmissable central performance ofFreddie Highmore, the former child star famed for his roles in the likes ofCharlie and the Chocolate Factory,Finding Neverland, andThe Spiderwick Chronicles. Thankfully, Highmore’s next big role is right around the corner, with a release date having now finally been set for theupcoming crime thriller seriesThe Assassin.
As cited via Radio Times,The Assassinwill make its UK debut on Prime Video on Friday, August 16, 2025. Not only has a release date been announced, but the first full trailer, available to watch below, has now been released. The trailer doesn’t just showcase Highmore as Edward, it also gives a glimpse ofBodyguardstarKeeley Hawes,who stars alongside Highmore as his mother and a retired assassin, Julie. Joining the pair in the cast are the likes ofGina Gershon(Bound),Shalom Brune-Franklin(Baby Reindeer),Jack Davenport(Kingsman: The Secret Service),Alan Dale(Neighbours),Gerald Kyd(Doctor Who),Devon Terrell(Totally Completely Fine),Richard Dormer(Game of Thrones) andDavid Dencik(Chernobyl).
‘The Assassin’ Has an Enticing Synopsis
With so much content constantly thrust onto streaming platforms, with Prime Video alone producing plenty, it can often be tricky to know whether it’s worth sinking your valuable hours into a new series.
