Two fan-favorite hosts are returning to Studio 8H this January.Dave ChappelleandTimothée Chalametwill hostSaturday Night Livethis month in the leadup to the venerable sketch comedy show’s 50th anniversary. Chappelle will host on January 18, while Chalamet will host on January 25.

This will be Chappelle’s fourth time hosting the show; his first hosting gig was in the emotionally fraught post-election episode in 2016, and he subsequently hosted in 2020 and2022. RapperGloRilla, who released her debut albumGloriouslate last year, will be that episode’s musical guest. The comedian has courted controversy in recent years with transphobic jokes in his popularseries of Netflix specials. This will be Chalamet’s third hosting stint, after hosting in 2020 and2023; however, this time he’s pulling double duty as both host and musical guest. Chalamet recently proved his musical bonafides with an acclaimed performance asBob Dylanin the biopicA Complete Unknown; what he intends to perform on-stage atSNLis currently also completely unknown.

What Is ‘Saturday Night Live’ Planning For Its 50th Anniversary?

The two JanuarySNLepisodes are part of the lead up to the show’s much-hyped50th anniversary celebration. The festivities will begin on January 16, when the four-part docuseriesSNL50: Beyond Saturday Nightwill premiere on Peacock. It is executive produced by Oscar-winning documentarianMorgan Neville, and will feature interviews withSNLalumni likeTina Fey,Amy Poehler,Will Ferrell,Seth Meyers, andBill Hader. On January 27, the specialLadies & Gentlemen…50 Years of SNL Music, spotlighting the series' rich history of groundbreaking musical performances (and the odd complete disaster). The main event will come on the weekend of February 14-16, with an entire weekend of programming devoted to the show’s history. On Sunday, February 16,SNL50: The Anniversary Specialwill air on prime time on NBC.

Previous hosts on this season ofSaturday Night LiveincludeJean Smart,Nate Bergatze,Ariana Grande,Michael Keaton,John Mulaney,Bill Burr,Charli XCX,Paul Mescal,Chris Rock, andMartin Short; the latter was inducted into the “Five-Timers Club,” a sketch first introduced in 1990 afterTom Hankshosted the show for the fifth time.
