Last night we finally rejoined the battle for the Iron Throne whenGame of Thronesseason 6 premieredon HBO, HBOGO and your local Westeros Sports Bar - and the TV Talk crew was all there to watch. According to Deadline,Mel Gibson, apparently a man on the mend, is making his way back into Hollywood’s good graces,being tapped to direct the TV Series adaptation ofThe Barbary CoaststarringKate HudsonandKurt Russell.The Barbary Coastwill be adapted from the novel of the same name written byHerbert Asburyand deals with the building of San Francisco and its notorious underground fueled by the California Goldrush. The show is still being shopped around.

At a Q&A at the Tribeca Film Festival,Baz Luhrmanndiscussed his upcoming Netflix seriesThe Get Down, teasing it as the pre-history of hip-hop set in the Bronx in the late 1970’s. With help from legendary artists likeNasandGrandmaster Flashand Luhrmann’s passion for music, the director said he treated the set and his directing style as more of an MC or DJ. The series will drop on August 12th streaming directly to your brain like a giant boombox.
