We learned last summer thatKate Beckinsalewould pick up the pistols and bodysuits for another turn as the death dealing vampire huntress, Selene for a newUnderworldmovie and today, Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment have unveiled the film’s official title. The fifth installment in theUnderworldsaga will be calledUnderworld: Blood Wars, a fitting if somewhat generic title for a franchise of films based around the interminable war between Vampires and Lycans, aka Werewolves.
Underworld: Blood Wars, which filmed last year in Prague, also sees the return ofCharles Danceas the vampire elder Thomas, as does Theo James as Thomas' son and Selene’s ally, David. New castmembers includeOutlander’sTobias Menziesas “a formidable new Lycan leader,” andSherlock’sLara Pulveras “a fiercely ambitious vampire,” along withJames Faulkner(anotherGame of Thronesactor),Peter Andersson(The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo),Bradley James(A&E’sDamiens eries),Daisy Head(Fallen), and newcomer actressClementine Nicholson.

Anna Foerster, who previously helmed episodes ofOutlander(and was a long-time collaborator withRoland Emmerich, serving as direcorof photography on films likeWhite House DownandThe Day AfterTomorrow,directsUnderworld: Blood Warsfrom a screenplay byThe Last Witch HunterscribeCory Goodman. Plot details and the official release date forUnderworld 5are still being kept under wraps, but the story will reportedly a new, younger generation of vampires and werewolves who are still locked in the seemingly endless war between supernatural races.
Meanwhile,Les Wiseman, who directed the first two films, is also currently developing anUnderworldTV series, though details on that project are still scarce. What we can be certain of is that the Vampire/Lycan war, aBlood War, if you will, wages ever on.
