It appears we’re not too far away from seeing the first footage fromX-Men: Apocalypse. As he did many, manytimes throughout production, directorBryan Singertook to Instagram today to share a photo of himself and editor/composerJohn Ottmanin the editing room, adding that a teaser trailer is “coming soon”. If that wasn’t enough, Singer made sure to include a look at the screen in the background, which previews a shot involving a verynotbaldJames McAvoyas Charles Xavier. We know from Comic-Con that McAvoy shaved his head for the film, meaning we will see Professor X bald at some point in the movie, but this scene in particular shows McAvoy sporting a very shaggy ‘do indeed.
So when will theX-Mentrailer drop? Well, if 20th Century Fox wants to keep things “in the family”, an attachment to the studio’s action/horror/comedy/thrillerVictor Frankenstein—which stars McAvoy as the titular doctor oppositeDaniel Radcliffe’s Igor—seems likely. That film is set for release on November 25th for Thanksgiving weekend, so it might be an extra fun holiday forX-Menfans.

Apocalypsepicks up in the 1980s, a decade after the events ofX-Men: Days of Future Pastforever altered this new timeline for theX-Menuniverse. In addition to acting as a conclusion to the trilogy that began withX-Men: First Classfor the character arcs of Charles, Erik (Michael Fassbender), Raven (Jennifer Lawrence), and Hank (Nicholas Hoult), the film also introduces young versions of Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), and Jubilee (Lana Condor). And, if recent reports are to be believed,Wolverine himself may make an appearance.
The story finds the mutants squaring off against the ancient mutant Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), who assembles his Four Horsemen with Magneto, Angel (Ben Hardy), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), and Storm (Alexandra Shipp). How much of this will we see in the teaser? Who knows, but the teaser trailer forX-Men: Days of Future Pastwas pretty damn great so I look forward to seeing what kind of tone Singer and Co. strike for this disaster-centric sequel.
