Fans ofThe Chosenmight have noticed a significant change in Season 4 —Yoshi Barrigasis no longer playing Philip. First introduced in Episode 2 of Season 2, Philip was portrayed as a former disciple of John the Baptist, bringing valuable experience in ministry and life on the road to Jesus' group of disciples inthe surprise hitseries.

After two seasonsin this pivotal role, Barrigas has been replaced by actorReza Diakos. The sudden recast of Philip betweenSeasons 3 and 4has left many fans wondering why Barrigas decided to leave the hit historical drama. While the exact reasons remain unknown, Barrigas addressed his departure in a now-deleted Instagram post, citing “professional and personal” reasons:

For newcomers looking to view the series, you have a number of options available to you in terms of accessing the series. The fourth season was picked up by The CW earlier this month, while last month, streaming dates for the series were announced last month, with the first episode ofSeason 4 premiering two weeks ago onThe Chosenapp. The next episode will be available on Thursday, June 13 at 8:30 p.m. ET, with new episodes released on Sundays at 7 p.m. ET and Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET over the next four weeks.

The digital release had been delayed due to a lawsuit betweenAngel Studiosand The Chosen LLC. Angel Studios has stated its intention to appeal the arbitrator’s ruling that ended its partnership with the production company.The Chosenis also available on BYUtv, which will stream season 4 episodes 24 hours after their release on The Chosen app, starting tonight, Monday, June 3 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, with linear broadcasts airing each subsequent Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
